<image:title>Design - MUSE MAGAZINE</image:title>
<image:caption>Print & UI Design MUSE is a sophisticated quarterly magazine that covers fashion, art, beauty, design, photography, cinema, music, and visual culture. Keeping with the magazine's minimalist design aesthetic, I worked with another Designer and the Creative Director, selecting images to tell a unique fashion or art narrative, designing layouts, and customizing the type in feature headings for both print and web. In addition to design, I was heavily involved with print production, copy editing, and working with the team to select appropriate content for our audience.</image:caption>

<image:title>Design - Resonance Consultancy Website</image:title>
<image:caption>UX/UI Design for Website Rebrand Working as a Senior Designer for Resonance Consultancy, I was tasked with the challenge of redesigning the company website. Resonance existed previously as two separate websites: ResonanceCo.com (the consultancy) and ResonanceBranding.com (the design agency). The main purpose of the new site was to combine both existing sites, showing prospective clients that Resonance has the tools to strategically execute all of their marketing needs. It was also important that the site function seamlessly on digital devices, since visitors were increasingly using their cell phones and tablets to access the site. This problem was solved by designing the web pages on a 12-column grid, where the boxes of content could easily readjust, depending on the size of the device. Keeping with the existing Resonance brand, which included the Didot and Helvetica typefaces and the green brand color, I aimed to design a clean and contemporary site that highlighted Resonance's portfolio of design work and allowed easy access to all research material and strategic content.</image:caption>

<image:title>Design - Puerto Papagayo Costa Rica</image:title>
<image:caption>Identity, Web & Print Design Working with the design team at Resonance Consultancy, we were tasked with creating an identity and marketing collateral around new luxury residences in Costa Rica. During our research, we were in awe of the lush colors and textures native to the Papagayo Peninsula and opted to center the brand around these elements. We commissioned the artist Christopher Marley to arrange elements of the Papagayo landscape into mosaics. These leaves, flowers, feathers, and butterflies complemented the photography beautifully. Our studio then took some of these natural elements, changed the color to gold, and layered them onto the designs. These individual elements further highlighted the natural beauty of the Costa Rican wildlife and were the perfect complements to the lush green landscapes ever-present in the photography. (Note: No animals were harmed during the creation of the brand.)</image:caption>

<image:caption>Identity & Print Design As a Designer and Account Director at Bridger Conway, I collaborated with our clients and the Bridger Conway team on the branding of 15 Leonard, a luxury residential development in Tribeca. The units in this building offer residents high-end contemporary living in the heart of Tribeca's vibrant culinary and shopping scene. For the sales centre, our client requested a sales brochure and floor plans to show potential buyers the amenities, location, and layout of the building. My role throughout this project involved both design and print production of the brochure layouts, floor plans, and signage. Through a narrative approach to the sales book, we showed the rich history of the neighborhood and the day-to-day life of Tribeca residents. The minimalist brand aesthetic and contemporary type were selected to appeal to the target demographic and reflect the building's aesthetic.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The UX/UI Design Process It's essential for business today to have an online presence, yet too many companies spend thousands of dollars on websites and apps only to find out later that their goals aren’t being met and their business hasn’t grown as expected. As many of the designs I create are websites and apps, I've put together a step-by-step guide to give some insight into my strategic design process. I work to identify the business goals behind a project and deliver a solution that not only looks great but helps the business grow. </image:caption>

<image:title>Design Process - Phase 1</image:title>
<image:caption>Strategy Conducting a strategy session is one of the most important parts of any project. During this phase, I'll collaborate with the client to create a strategic plan that outlines the scope of the project and how we'll define and meet specific goals and objectives. During this strategy phase, I’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the client and how their business works so that I can become a partner who provides value beyond the design process.</image:caption>

<image:title>Design Process - Phase 2</image:title>
<image:caption>UX Design An excellent user experience is the driving force behind the success of any product or service. My goal during this UX phase is to establish a clear and intuitive experience that will lead users to accomplish the tasks deemed most important and relevant during the strategy phase. It doesn’t matter what a product looks like if people don’t know how to interact with it. That’s why the wireframes (website sketches) I create will not focus on color, imagery, or typography, but instead focus on hierarchy, content layout, spatial and page relationships, and the product architecture.</image:caption>

<image:title>Design Process - Phase 3</image:title>
<image:caption>UI Design Interface design exists to encourage interactions, manage expectations, and enable users. My goal during this UI phase is to further enhance the user experience through visual design. My focus will be on improving the user experience by adding color, imagery, and typography to implement a consistent look and feel across the product, platform, or service being designed. Once the design is complete, I can also ensure it makes a smooth transition into the hands of a development team for accurate and successful implementation.</image:caption>

<image:title>Design Process - Phase 4</image:title>
<image:caption>Web Development Development is the successful and accurate implementation of the UI & UX design. My goal during the development phase is to accurately and successfully implement the designs through code by either coding the website myself or working with developers. I’m proficient with HTML & CSS, having recently completed a course in front-end web development at the Flatiron School. For websites that are smaller and simpler in scope, like landing pages or informational websites, I typically work with the web platforms Squarespace or Wordpress. For more complex sites, I work closely with developers to ensure the designs I create are executed perfectly.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Hi.</image:title>
<image:caption>I'm Robyn Asquini, a graphic designer and creative director living in Toronto. I believe the only way to create a rich product experience with lasting value is to deeply understand how and why people will use that end product, be it an app or a print magazine. Using a human-centered design approach involving customer research, sketching, and prototyping, I aim to create both beautiful and thoughtful designs. My work has been published in several print and online publications including Elle Canada, Flare Magazine, More Magazine, and the National Post. Other firms I've worked with include One Kings Lane, Edelman, Sailo, Muse Magazine, BridgerConway LLC, Standard Life, Rethink Communications, and McGill University. I hold an M.S. in Strategic Design and Management from Parsons The New School and a B.A. in Applied Arts from Sheridan College. If you'd like to hire me for a project, send me a message. If you want to learn more about my experience, feel free to check out my CV by clicking here.</image:caption>
